Saturday June 10th dawned bright and sunny (and incredibly windy), as team Craft Days rocked up in the market square to set up our magical knitting den...
Why? Well, June 10th marked the fourth annual World Wide Knit in Public Day, an international event that sees knitters, crocheters and general yarn-fans gather together in the name of public crafting.
We decided to mark the occasion by setting up a gazebo in the centre of town, decorating it with a rainbow of yarn related ornaments, and sitting in the sun, needles in hand.
Aided greatly by Yvonne's incredible cookies, we had an incredible day of chatting, knitting, crocheting, laughing and showering passers-by with information and inspiration. At one point we even ran out of chairs!
WWKIP Day saw over 1,000 different events in 54 different countries, all organised by local people. It's a really great initiative for spreading the crafting bug, and connecting people through love of yarn.
If you came to see us on our public knitting stall - thank you! You really helped to make the day extra special and fun. Particular thanks to Alison and Pete for the loan of their marquee (which very nearly blew over), Ursula, Richard, Linda, Yvonne, Kate and Anne for all their help, support (and cookies).
Here's to next year!
