Deliveries!

We had a delivery of Erika Knightyarns last week, including the very lovely Iced Gem colour in Maxi Wool which has been out of stock for a while. Another favourite that had been out of stock is Mrs Dalloway inBritish Blue 100. This gorgeous soft gold colourway is so pretty and perfect for accessorising all sorts of outfits. I am knitting a cardigan in it from a Rowan pattern (more about that below). This delivery was held up at customs while we sorted out the post brexit paperwork, hopefully it will run more smoothly in the future. We are waiting for a big delivery from Katia, which is should arrive any day now and contains quite a lot of Merino in dk and aran weights. Yarn producers have had problems during the pandemic as, although most of the mills have been able to carry on, they have had to reduced their staff levels in order to maintain social distancing, so haven't been able to operate at full speed. Most shortages seem to have been corrected now, but it's taken a while.
We've also stocked up on 'Lazy Lion'a luxurious, self striping sock yarn. (If you look on the website, make sure you scroll down the pages to see all 8 colours.) No two socks are ever quite the same, but they kind of 'go together'. I have also used it to make a 'Linen Stitch' scarf, which is very effective. I used 2 skeins which made a scarf approx 23cms wide and just over 2m long, so one skein would be enough for a smaller version. Linen stitch has to be one of my favourite stitches. It's very easy once you get into the rhythm. Below there is a picture of another Linen Stitch scarf that I am working on now, which uses 3 colours of the unbelievably soft Babyalpaca 4 ply. It is a beautiful fine yarn and knitting 1 row in each of 3 different colours in Linen Stitch creates a lovely design reminiscent of tweed. (In fact it is sometimes call Tweed Stitch) The yarn is on our website and you only need one skein of each colour as it has a massive 250m in each 50g skein. I have used Anthrazite, Bright Orange and Bright Pink. It makes such a soft, light scarf, and being Alpaca, it will be lovely and cosy.
